I totally disagree with #2, you should absolutely be shooting for the end sound all the way through production. You should also be obsessed with capturing the sound properly at the source. So many beginners including me at the time say “I’ll fix it in the mix”. Pros DO NOT do that. Every pro in the world will tell you to make tonal decisions at capture and then later maybe clean up a frequency or control dynamics or add more vibe. The other tips are great though.
