Hollywood suffered a tremendous loss on December 27, 2016, when Carrie Fisher passed away at just 60 years old. Fisher of course skyrocketed to fame as Princess Leia in the Star Wars movies, but she was equally acclaimed for her skills as a writer and Hollywood script doctor. She always seemed to know the right thing to say to make something just a little bit funnier.

Despite her famous family and public life from a young age, however, there still may be a lot you don’t know about the multi-faceted actress, writer, and advocate. Let’s take a look at the untold truth of Carrie Fisher.

I don't think a celebrity death has affected me as much as Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds' death added to that grief. So sad and unexpected. I've never been the biggest fan of her, but always admired her brutal honesty and humor. I don't think I've appreciated her as much until after her death.

I saw Star Wars when it premiered in 1977. I was only eight and grew into my teens watching the first three films. I admired Carrie Fisher, and her openness with bipolar disorder was a great help when I was struck with severe depression in my mid twenties. I knew there was hope and treatment. When she passed, I felt like I lost a good friend even though I never met her. What a remarkable woman.

I remember growing up watching her in not only the Star Wars movies, but being a young teen seeing her in The Man with One Red Shoe. Wow! But she was funny as hell.

Carrie Fisher seemed really down to earth. Like she had no ego, that's why I liked her.
