Yeah, I'm overall sick of NY and California deciding things for the entire country. They have way too much say.

It definitely was the case in PA in 1969. I was a lifeguard that summer and after 7 hours at a public pool across the Susquehanna River from a Met Ed coal plant, I was covered in coal specks. We have come a long way, but please let’s not regress.

Even if he is right about workers. The companies the workers work for do not care

Sort of a stupid comment: "You can't tell if a well has been fracked". I'm for fracking, but it is pretty clear when a well is fracked in this area of Colorado. All of the conventional wells were put in place years ago, so all oil and gas development in Weld and Boulder County is fracking. When a regular well is drilled, the operation was traditionally pretty limited, but fracked wells currently have these massive barriers put up to limit noise impacting in the surrounding homes. There is much more road traffic to bring the water for the operation, and deal with fluids. It's statements like this that give skeptics traction.

Such a childish view of how the world works. He says these people care about land, etc. Luckily people never do anything crazy for money. This guy is gaslighting us.

Corporations don't want to pollute 😅😅😅

Mr. Turner makes some good points about the economics, but when he starts on about the EPA "defining greenhouse gases as carbon dioxide, and you say "well, that's a really big step - suddenly carbon dioxide is poisonous gas", I get a distinct whiff of the Heartland Institute.

every time i hear someone panicking about raw milk, I want to scream. I’m not that old but grew up drinking milk that we got from our neighbour. I never heard anyone getting sick. If the argument is that maybe 1 in thousands might one day have some issue, then pls search for food recall and salmonella found in large manufacturers. If you want to drink pasteurized milk, feel free buying all your dairy in the store, but please don;t try to save me from myself.

Cancer alley in Louisiana is what happens when petrol business is unregulated. Coal miners and black lung. Strip mining in West Virginia. This guest glosses over the issues. Not to mention the East Palestine train wreck. This is a slippery slope. But yes, the whole carbon footprint thing is stupid. So much "green" technology is also environmentally destructive--just in different ways.

wait, are we actually trying to frame it as a good thing that an industry shill - one whose career was predicated on maximizing profits - is leading the department of energy?

Mr. Turner is ignorant. I worked in the oil and chemical industry as a chemical engineer for several decades. These industries will do horrible things in their communities when they are not monitored and regulated. Not every manufacturer is highly problematic, but it is much more common than anyone would want. The argument is what level of pollution is acceptable.

Parkersburg WV is a poster child for industry run amok. DuPont executives knew they were harming their employees and the community for decades. I was on the scene there when these problems were made public to the employees. Evidence in that case proved how little executives cared for peoples lives.

_"Fracking—for some reason—has this odd controversy around it."_ Well, there is some scaremongering. But as I understand it, the USA has rather lax regulations on fracking, which does risk polluting waterways and water supplies.

Bottom line both sides are guilty of taking things too far. Either too much regulation or not enough. Fact, the government is bloated and there’s too many Reg’s/Red Tape. Most people agree cleaner air and water are good things, yet earnings and shareholder pressures can often cause good people to cut corners. This guy is naive to think people/corps will be model citizens if Reg’s are eliminated.
