Apple Passkeys #shorts

iOS 16 and macOS Ventura is introducing Passkeys. This feature aims to replace traditional passwords when signing into a website or an app. Think of Passkeys like 2FA on steroids! More convenient and secure than passwords or 2FA!

It's not Apple new tech. Passkeys are just an authentication standard by FIDO. We have it like years ago but the problem is just platform support

The bad part is that Apple and Google back those keys up to their Servers which is also a security risk.

Then you lose it any you will never be able to log in again. Oh, yes. Store it in the cloud to prevent that. So only apple can take it from you. Or whoever has access to your account. I don't even know what is new in a digital key.

Steve Gibson solved this problem earlier and better with SQRL. Of course it can't be controlled because it's open source so we get Passkeys instead.

I just realised apple does put them on a server because you sync from 1 icloud account to all your devices so your passwords and everything is saved.

Apple fans love copeium... A digital key bieng unique isn't new... U guys ever heard about keepass and seeds or digital key file ? It's been on android and it's father linux fir long. This been something for over a decade. It's not new technology . I just can't handle these apple fans 💀💀☠️
