How Civet make World Most Expensive Coffee - Civet Coffee Farming - Coffee Harvest and Processing

Kopi luwak is a coffee that consists of partially digested coffee cherries, which have been eaten and defecated by the Asian palm civet . It is also called civet coffee. The cherries are fermented as they pass through a civet's intestines, and after being defecated with other fecal matter, they are collected. Producers of the coffee beans argue that the process may improve coffee through two mechanisms: selection – civets choosing to eat only certain cherries, and digestion – biological or chemical mechanisms in the animals' digestive tracts altering the composition of the coffee cherries.
The traditional method of collecting feces from wild Asian palm civets has given way to an intensive farming method, in which the palm civets are kept in battery cages and are force-fed the cherries. This method of production has raised ethical concerns about the treatment of civets and the conditions they are made to live in, which include isolation, poor diet, small cages, and a high mortality rate.

Although kopi luwak is a form of processing rather than a variety of coffee, it has been called one of the most expensive coffees in the world, with retail prices reaching US$100 per kilogram for farmed beans and US$1,300 per kilogram for wild-collected beans.

I think it's better to put them in an enclosure let them free around the coffee plants instead of putting them into small cages. Stress can affect the quality of the product so if you want your coffee to be really good quality don't put the civets inside a small cage but let them be free and happy to roam around and eat coffee fruits as much as they want

I liked the last farm, they made big cages housing coffee plants inside, if only theirs no division so that in can room freely in a much wider space. It's nice to see having veterinarian checking up the civets health & giving the animal its main diet instead of just a coffee fruits.

The origin was when Indonesia was colonized local farmer can't harvest coffee bean for private consumption, all of the harvest must be sell to VOC (east India Company) that own by Dutch. Local who want to drink coffee search for alternative mean and found out that there's an animal who like to eat coffee and see what's left on its poop was coffee bean. After trying to roast and drink it the result pretty good

Instead of keeping them in cages, why dont you create a preserved area around the coffee plants and release the animals there? Keeping them in cages is cruel, also let the poopy coffee become more organic and expensive that way :/

I tried it from Bali and i felt so special in it's effect on body. One thing is you won't get acidity of normal coffee in luwak coffee.

Надо тоже купить необжаренных кофейных зерен, сожрать их, а потом после того как выйдут из меня - сварить из них кофе и угостить коллег по бизнесу !!!!
