Dark and Funky Phrygian Blues Jam | Guitar Backing Track (E Minor)

Your goal as a soloist is to create MELODY. Our neck diagrams give you the notes you can use to create that melody in REAL TIME. Think of the Diagrams as 3 layers of information:

1. PENTATONIC - The pentatonic scale works all the time and almost never changes, so this is the basic level.
2. MODE - The mode will always be the pentatonic PLUS 2 NOTES (modes have 7 notes). The mode can change depending on the chords (modal interchange).
3. CHORD - The chord layer shows you the notes of the chord changes (aka the HARMONY) in REAL TIME. Outgoing notes get smaller and fade out, incoming notes will fade in, so you know what notes to go for next.

In our app AlphaJams (currently in Beta), you will be able to control which layer you see, and how much of the neck you see. It should be out in the next few months, so please stay tuned!

Good luck and thanks for checking it out! ✌🏼 ✌🏼

Very nice. I feel like this one's really challenging me to play the chord changes and even get some kind of diminished some other in there. Five thumbs up.

I'm probably not the one and only guitarist with little idea of how to play seamlessly and flowingly through changes outside the I - IV - V realm. Music theory helps in terms of analytical listening, and if someone explained such strategies as Aeolian from Bar 1 to 16, then Phrygian from 17 to 20, back to Aeolian, I can however, as I grew up with access to such artists as Horace Silver, Joe Pass, Herb Ellis, my questions seemed the long pauses and vibe of "why would you ask that????" I finally figured it out when my jazz bassist father emphatically advised:
"FIRST learn the tune exactly as performed and play it til you're tired of it. That puts the muscle memory in your hands and ears. THEN improvisation is playing the song without thinking about what you're SUPPOSED to do. And by the way, when you learn a tune, you're also learning a lot of other He was quite the purist; with bebop as his foundation, he wasd very correct that learning a tune teaches you a lot of other tunes :)
I was blessed to have the old man and his encyclopedic knowledge. I'll share one ya may never hear but I found VERY "When you get stoned before a gig, you're the ONLY one in the club that thinks you're playing "
Something about the Em - FMaj7 vamp pings "Nardis" memories.
