The continent of Africa is home to fifty-four countries that together harbor over three thousand cultures, each with their own ways of life and each with their own stories. Some of these stories have their origins in the folk beliefs of people native to their particular region, while others were imported from or influenced by cultures from elsewhere who settled in Africa.

I forgot which country it's from but I heard a story about how the sky god had to manage everything from the elements to things like justice, time and agriculture. As he had kids, he became conflicted as to who would have what job in the world. He didn't want to look like he was playing favorites or giving anyone a sore deal. He asked all his advisors, but the one with the best idea was a simple chameleon. He suggested that he gather all the power and talent in the world, take it into the sky and let it fall like rain. Whatever his children caught would dictate what god they'd become and what they'd be responsible for.

I love mythology. It always shows how connected believers are to their region of the world.

I remember a superhero named Anansi from Static Shock. I never knew Africa had so many mythologies and great stories. Someone should make movies based on these stories.

I liked the Kong story. Reminds me of the Genesis somehow.

There are many (creation) myths in Africa, that fall in line with creation myths from the ancient indo-european cultures, especially the cattle raids or rain serpents.

I once read a comment on another video here on YouTube about an old legend from the person's home tribe that was passed down from generation to generation. I believe the person was from somewhere in South Africa. I don't remember much details but it had to do with a race of sky serpents (reptilians) coming to earth and creating humanity and he even said there was a place in the desert near where he lives, where you could see remnants of the location where the 'creation procedure' had taken 🤔

While most—if not all—of this sounds like mumbo jumbo, it was interesting to hear. Thanks!
