I like to see that no two actors appear to present Sir Joseph the same way. This one irritable and conniving, another slimy and frail, yet another blithely unaware. His character is so workable and specifics free that now he is the ruler of the Queen's Navee.

140 years later. And the text is still spot on for todays politics.

It's interesting to see how each performer embellishes the role to make it their own.

Diction is splendid, one can make out every single word. Singing’s excellent too.

I can't get enough of different people singing these songs lol.
Same song, different takes

It’s really nice to not see a completely “cartoony” depiction of these numbers. It’s also a bonus to see him slightly breaking the fourth wall.

One of the best performances of Sir Joseph ☺️!

His voice captures D'Oyly Carte's performances perfectly, what a pleasure.

Keith Jurosko is a great stylist of many styles, with much style!

I get the feeling that the women are his sisters, his cousins, and aunts, all at the same time

Actual fact. The “Ruler of the Queen’s Navy” at the time of writing was W.H.Smith. (Sound familiar?)

I keep coming back to this masterpiece - it really does rank right up there with the very best versions of this piece in my opinion. I've forgiven them their minor faux-pas regarding their salutes. ;-) Had to smile this last visit - when they got to the bit about going 'below' 1:22 when the sea gets rough, my missus has the same 'affliction!' ;-)

Not one proper Royal Navy salute amongst them! LOL Thanks for posting. :-)

Sadly, one suspects that is exactly how it is done!

Incompetent bureaucracts:  as familiar now as in 1880.  LOL!!!
