I'm 8 weeks post op from a gastric bypass and the thoughts of food & meal planning is overwhelming. I'm a visual person & this helps alot.

A great Greek yogurt is Oikos Pro. It has 20g of protein and only 8g of carbs. Wonderful fruit flavors and comes in a 5 oz package.

Thank you for the video. I am post op 10 days and really struggling with the recovery. I came to the Internet for motivation.

I never use ready made protein shakes/powders.If you add skimmed milk powder to a pint of skimmed/semi-skimmed milk, you have 40g of protein per pint before you add a little fruit yogurt/cottage cheese/Quark, instant oats, milled flaxseed or chia seed, peanut butter, veggies like baby spinach to a smoothie. Add a little sugar subtitute or tbl of sugar-free instant pudding mix and you have a good cheap, healthy, tasty protein rich smoothie. You control what goes into it and the varieties are endless. Follow the Doc's advice here. Portion control, high protein and mindful eating are the key to shifting weight after surgery. Its hard to break the habits of bad food choices and over eating. Try to stay focused and positive and be creative with your food. I have lost 80kg and still on my journey. Good Luck!

I had rny in 2005 and I lost all the weight and kept it off for many many years. In the last few years I've had a great deal of stress and was put on some medicine and my weight shot up on it. My surgeon retired right after my surgery and I live across the US from where I had it done. So much has changed I didn't know how I should be eating to lose it. This video helps so much and I hope I can get back on track and lose the weight I gained.

Thank you I had surgery a year ago and just got vague suggestions from the clinic like eat soft foods but then they got ballistic when I ate grits (my Mom was from South Carolina she has passed on but I was missing her… I don’t buy it often maybe once every 3 yrs!). The point is I liked your video and the visual!

I'm in the pre-surgery 6 month period of meeting a nutritionist and I'm deeply grateful for all of these videos, this is immensely helpful for me so I have a good idea of how best to prepare

Interesting. Not a surgery patient, but definitely way too heavy and trying to focus on portion size. I really can't eat a lot at one time any more, and hate the feeling of being stuffed. I was happy to see all the foods the doc showed as possible meals are exactly what I eat. The visuals showing portions and meal combinations help!
