Your brain is your greatest enemy but also your most powerful tool it all depends on what you feed it.

If you keep thinking “ I’m not where I want to be “. “ life is out to get me “ “ everyone else is happy but me “ it’s all you’ll ever feel.

Instead try to think “ I’m farther than I was yesterday “ and suddenly your whole perspective will shift.

There's an exercise called "Grounding" used in therapy for anxiety attacks. The premise is that anxiety comes from worrying about the past (actions and choices made) and the future (things to come that "could" happen). What you do is place your feet on the ground (barefoot if possible), then focus and name things around you. The purpose is to pull your mind from the past and future and back to the present because you can't focus on your anxiety if you reconzie what's in front of you, what's real and within your control. Give it a try if you ever suffer from anxiety attacks. Anyways, this advice reminded me of that exercise. Hope it helps someone.

The quote of having being wherever you wanted to be and still not being satisfied or feel belonging really hits me. I tried that before, change places, change venues...changed social groups...yet I still envy where I'm not and what I don't have.

The happiest people don't necessarily have the best of everything. They make the best of everything.

This is so true. After I graduated college I found myself heavily depressed. I thought I’d get better once I found a job. Didn’t happen. Maybe I’d get better after I moved out my parents place. Didn’t happen. Maybe it’ll get better once the lockdown ended. Didn’t get better. At the end of the day it’s less about your circumstances and more so your mentality

"The happiest people are the ones that find a balance in appreciating what they have and what they want."

Recently, I came up with a quote on my own that you'll never find joy in a thing focusing on what it lacks.

You see a lot of people that give bad reviews to a video game, for example, and a lot of the frustration is based on what is missing. Meanwhile, others absolutely enjoy it with a focus on what it does well.

Same goes for life. If we focus too much on what we lack or opportunities missed, it can take the joy away from the things or the people we have in our lives.
