New subscriber here, from the state of Georgia in the United States. Gotta say that these good people are becoming as family to me. Such happiness is a wonderful thing to see. And, I love split pea soup. I get canned soup and always add whatever fresh veggies that I want into it, usually carrots and potatoes that I've cooked first. I would love to see them enjoying one of their beloved foods with a piece of roti! Thank you ever so much for introducing the world to these most excellent gentlemen! We also eat this kind of soup in Sweden every Thursday. They serve this in in schools, hospital, elderly homes etc. every week on that day. After the soup they serve Swedish pancake (without bakning soda) with wipped cream and some jam. In Sweden the soup is also serve with mustard and some thyme.

Split pea soup is Dutch, from the Netherlands, colonist brought it to Canada. It is winter food.

This was a regular winter dish for me growing up in Maine. My first thought was that they may not like it, but it looks very good as you added carrots and potatoes. When I saw the garlic bread I thought, well now they will be right at home eating it dipped into the soup. That is the way I like it too. I now know to drink lots of water when I eat bread. Cheers to TPT!
