Because doing something about "Linux" just isn't the Linux Foundation's style. Plus: Reactions from Brendan Eich (Brave CEO) & Andreas Kling (Ladybird Browser).

The reason DEI is everywhere is because those who provide business loans (eg Blackrock) demand a certain level of DEI.

They actually misspelled the name of their project in the very first sentence of their press release. That sure inspires confidence.

This is likely happening to provide a backup organization to house chromium if the google lawsuit goes through and they are forced to divest.

as soon as you connected "google has some level of control in the Linux foundation" and "the Linux Foundation set up a branch to work on Chromium" i was thinking "ok, so Google just set up a company they have at least partial control over to be the company they sell Chromium to and figure (probably correctly) that the judge won't put that together in time"

It's amazing that with such info and freedom we have at our fingertips, how many folks are willing to cut freedom and progress's noses to spite the face of someone, somewhere having a different opinion.

You know I always thought if Linux was to fall it would be after Linus was long gone

Google would need to be forbidden to having any affiliates on the board or providing any funding to the foundation to prevent "undo influence".

So who will be the judge that would have to approve Google's "sale" of Chrome? I think he or she should be informed of this attempted end-run around any divestiture ruling.
But you know that some point in the next few years (or less) someone is going to find a major zero-day vulnerability in Chromium-Core. Some vulnerability that will hit EVERY Chromium-based browser on every platform. You remember how bad it was with all the vulnerabilities in MSIE? That was ONE browser on ONE platform. A Chromium vulnerability will hit nearly EVERY browser on nearly EVERY platform. I'm kind of looking forward to it, so I can sit by and LAUGH at them.

So they're "focused on inclusivity, " but won't include Brave?! Uh-huh.
