It been a quite the journey finding a cheap Direct mount UDH hanger, with some tweaks to the original UDH specs, I ended up with a satisfying solution, I Think

For me the looks and the potential improvement of shifting of a direct mount hanger is even better than the weight saving.

I have quite te same problem as you. A frame "not to spec" with most hangers and a strong will to get rid of the B-link. No solution on the market for mo so I decided to create a custom CNC machined direct mount hanger for a bike which is not produced anymore. The things we do for bikes... :p

the best thing SRAM has ever done is steel hollow cassettes, that Asia went on simplify and adapt to Shimano and all speeds and sizes, lighter than traditional costly titanium cassettes that don't bite into the hub.

Also sram stock hangers have a plastic body with threads in plastic, that is quite brittle, and you have to be super careful while tightening, i managed to brake mine. Would upgrade to one of these just because it is all made from metal

I like the UDH, but I'm having second thoughts about thru-axles. Peak Torque did an analysis, and it appears that not only are they not really axles, they don't even produce as much clamping force as a regular QR. I get that if it is going through a hole rather than a slot, we get alignment (hopefully) and "lawyer tab" protection, but they seem to not really be solving anything new. I have never ever had a wheel get knocked out of alignment with vertical dropouts and a QR. So, what am I missing, if anything?

I am curious what your filming setup is? Assume you have a fixed camera between you and the item but how do you light? Love your tech comment, BUT - some of those hangers are wet noodles.

why not get a custom made 15g carbon axle from panda podium? been using a set on my titanium gravel bike for well over a year now and its flawless. 32g for the set custom made to the weird specific axle size for my Lynskey.
