In jury selection, how does a good lawyer ensure they find the right jurors for a trial? They make sure they understand everyone is innocent until proven guilty!

Something that our team does is we ask people what they think about when someone uses their constitutional right to remain silent. I often use the example of mafia movies where the lawyer is telling them to be quiet so they don't incriminate themselves. Many people think of exactly this scenario when someones pleads the fifth. But, in real life, people are just invoking their rights as citizens of the United States. When jurors think people are guilty for just using their rights, the defendant doesn't have a fair chance.

Did I miss something because it sounds to me like you just convinced the jury that your guy was a gangster...

The jury isnt even allowed to know you invoked your right to remain silent, if prosecution bring it up, thats a miss trial.

I have heard that silence is golden in the courtrooms.

In other words you denude their biases right in front of them.

For prosecution to bring up your choice to remain silent is cause for acquittal. WTF?
