My metamask wallet got hacked 3 months ago, I had plenty of money in there. I am not rich or anything but that money is a lot for me. My heart almost stopped and very very in denial when I saw my balanced drop to 0 and all coins I have were gone. I was crying did not know what to do. But here I am today still existing because money is always there you can always earn it. I am no longer thinking of that loss and I think of it as positive because I will nver ever fall for the same mistake again.

And don’t fear your wife, she will feel worse for you than anything else. That was my biggest fear - telling her. It gets better each day you get away from the event. My advice, stay positive like you are, focus on the future, forgive the hackers and pray for them, and last but not least, forgive yourself. Latest viruses activate when u install a wallet extension, then it starts taking screenshots to get your seed. This is how most are hacked these days and they never know how it happend

I just got hacked yesterday evening. I only got metamask for a week. Bought some staking defi tokens put in most of my savings for some apy. Why u didn’t connected your MetaMask to hardware wallet bro like ledger or TreZor?

Just use MM with your hardware wallet and you won't have any issues. Make sure you set it up properly though. Use the connect hardware wallet feature on MM and you'll be fine. Whatever you do, DO NOT RESTORE or setup the MM wallet using your Hardware wallet seed as that will defeat the purpose of keeping your hardware wallet seed off line.

Im here because someone hacked my metamask and stole $80k. I am now dead in the water. Think ive narrowed it down to using Chrome, leaving multiple sites open, and not reading all contracts i signed

That most likely happen to you because you're leaving your wallet connected to all the site you're connecting to you have to disconnect I've never had a problem with metamask don't stay connected to sites after you use them
