It makes me happy to see the many comments in support of Palestine and Dr. West. However, those that don’t understand why this channel is posting this content should take the time to try to understand something. A lot of subcultures, like hardcore, came about as a response to oppressive ideologies (racism, fascism, imperialism, capitalism, etc.) Speaking truth to power is a pillar of this genre. It’s also about solidarity with society’s most vulnerable - BIPOC, the LGBTQIA+ community, the working class, disabled folks, our unhoused friends… and all those that want to live happy lives free from true oppression. There is so much art and music that has created a safe space for people to really express their frustrations and fears in a setting that upholds collectivism and community. Being against the genocide of the Palestinian people is NOT antithetical to this art form, nor is platforming the voices of those (like Dr. West) who are calling for an end to the suffering. I am grateful for this YouTube channel, not just for exposing me to new bands, but for staying consistent with the hardcore punk message.
