You have to keep in mind these temples and statues weren't just white marble but were all painted.

The 3D modelling and overlay to scale in this video is superb. Imagine if they rebuilt the Roman forum today, It would become the No.1 tourist attraction in the world. It would be expensive but it would be worth it.
