Post-build Review: Takom 2078 Merkava Mk.1

I forgot to mention: Takom gives you some nice metal foil with which to make some unit designations by attaching to the sides and rear of the turret bin. They supply some decals to go on these sheets.

There is no reason for me to promote a bad product, as then I would not enjoy using it, not like the result on my model, and not be proud of publicizing it in a video. There's also no point in me doing this to keep up relations with a company if the only benefit would be getting more of the same products that I didn't like. I have not used every product out there, but from what I have used, I keep using the products I like, and that's why I use them in my videos. You can use whatever other products you would like to and you can feel that they are better - that is your opinion, and is perfectly fine by me, thus I hope that feeling is reciprocated.

Such a kosher tank! Always loved the Merkava tanks for their unusual look. Maybe i should do one again, but when it comes to IDF stuff i am probably even more intrigued by their Sho´t tanks and AFV Club makes stunning kits of those.

Really appreciate your take on doing a post build review instead of just an inbox review. Would dig seeing some vids of you painting and weathering it too. Keep up the awesome work!

Now you have a pinvice and a jig you can make a 'wire handle bending jig', drill a hole as near an edge you want size and a groove on the edge you form wire over.Chunky jigs are perfect for it.Just finished DML m1 abrams, 1st modern armour kit, big on decals.I like the wiring, makes loads of difference. Thanks for vid, good looking build.

Hey!! Great post build review. I really do appreciate the insight these offer in addition to a regular unboxing review- although you also do a great job with those Dragon kits because you point out the instruction errors and let us know which factory versions should have which parts. I'm glad you enjoyed this Merkava- I have a Hobby Boss Mk IV in the stash but this looks like an awesome option for a Mk I. Really like what you did adding the remote control cables and am excited to see the IDF painting/weathering series. Glad that pin vise came just in time! Really the least I could do considering all the help your videos have been for me. Hopefully it will continue to prove useful. Take care! -Chris

Looks good Evan. I'm assuming this is for the group build. I'm going to have to get a Merkava... I just love the shape of that turret. I've started my Sherman but it could take a while.

Oh now that is right up my street Evan. Very cool mate. The good thing about idf for you I guess is that you can go at it on the weathering unlike a leopard or challenger etc.

I enjoyed my hybrid version. I left the side skirts off to exposed the pretty boggies underneath.

Looks good. The modern day tanks really have more detail work required for a build. Wondering if you could cover off painting the cables? Spray or hand paint or combination of both? Leave on or off?, etc.
Thanks for posting

Nice to see you again!!! Do you have any plans to paint &weathering this kit? Make some video, please. Modern armor is bewitching for me.

What would you consider the best armour kits / Manufacturers for those new to modeling, with the balance between ease of build and detail etc . Any chance you can do a vido covering this subject ? Thank you in advance

Nice build of a great kit; some choice little detail bits added there to make it a little different than just OOB. Will we see it painted? Hope so. Cheers, and thanks for sharing.

Looks amazing! I think Takom is rather hit or miss with some of their kits (most are still fairly well detailed). Their AMX 13's are quite good, though :)
