Becoming a Skydiver - My journey of learning to skydive

Since my childhood I have been dreaming of learning how to skydive, a sport that comes closest to the feeling of human flight.

During my trip to California, I finally made my dream come true and completed the AFF course and training to get my A license. With this video I would like to show you my way to become a skydiver and share my experiences and impressions. Skydiving has taken me out of my comfort zone in a very interesting and challenging way.

The training as a skydiver is divided into 2 levels. The AFF course (Accelerated Freefall) takes you to the status of a solo skydiver in 7 performance categories.

As soon as this status is reached, 18 more jumps are needed to obtain the A-licence. These consist of solo jumps as well as coached jumps in which certain skills are performed.

My first licensed jump was a 4 way formation.
Dudes were like "we're missing a jumper for 4 way you wanna go?"
I'm like "bro I just got my license yesterday"
They said "you're licensed right? You can jump with us! Let's go"
It was fun.

I was about 2 weeks away from taking my own life I was extremely depression and hopeless I thought about skydiving for years. I booked a flight and backed out because I was to afraid they kept my spot for when I was ready. I just decided to do it. It was 80 degrees with clear sky in November in Ohio. I was so afraid that my depression vanished and I just wanted to live which is exactly as a planned the moment I jumped from the plane is a moment I cant process my mind and body was overloaded at that moment. It was both the scariest moment of my life and the greatest. I never want to do it again though sky diving just isnt for me but it will always be a trump card for my depression and a final resort the moment I hit the ground I could barley stand up I could not believe I was still alive my mind completely reset and a lot of trapped emotions were released as I yelled during my drop. Sky diving worked even more perfectly than a planned and if I ever become really depressed I will take action and sky dive again. Again I pray I have to never do it again.

The most dangerous part is under the canopy. Make sure you are flying with a highly visible canopy and know where the others are at all times.
People are unfortunately not paying attention to others and look down more than around them.
BE EXTRA AWARE OF THE TRAFFIC!

This is one of my goals. I've already done it with a Instructor and going again. But Idk if I would have the courage to do it alone. Hopefully one day. You rock!!

I went tandem skydiving for the first time a few weeks ago. Always wanted to do it & I have a few friends who said it’s amazing! I just made a reservation & went by myself. Driving down there I even told myself “I feel like I’m gonna fall in love with this.” Sure enough I already booked a second tandem jump & looking into getting my license jump alone 😂😅 thanks for the video makes me excited to start my journey!

I started the first lesson then stopped due to financial situations. Watching you aceing is like I did the whole course myself! Very excited for you and congrats for achieving your goal!

I’ve been so scared about my first 2 instructor jumps. I just finished my second training tandem and my first jump course is this Thursday!!! But I’m so glad you posted this. This was so inspiring and I’m experiencing excitement all over again. I’m scared still. The healthy “I don’t want to die” kind of scared. But my longing of “I want to live” is much stronger. I want to experience and live life to the fullest. I love it and I want to do this so badly. It’s go time

i signed up tonight for my first jump next saturday and it is a 6 hour course and a solo jump. No tandem. That has always been a dream of mine. I don't want to ever be strapped to another person. This Saturday i get to fulfill that dream to jump solo right off the beginning. I can't wait to get my AFF license already.

I jumped 3 days ago for my first time. Hands down best thing ever. I’m already thinking about training for the A license. I have a second jump in a week

Yeah, I'm fifty-six years old and I've been doing tandem jumps because I've missed the deadline for this summer's AFF training classes.
My plan is to spend time at our local wind tunnel this winter and get as ready as possible for next spring/summer. I'm not interested -as of now- in becoming anything more than a competent solo skydiver.
This would fulfil my needs, though I'm open to pushing it further in the future assuming I pass the AFF training.
By the way, I'm absolutely terrified of heights, though as soon as Im sitting at the open bay of the aircraft, ready to be pushed off into space, my fear evaporates.
Fortunately I've had some awesome instructors.

Next year, getting my license is my goal. I have never skydived but I want this to be my lifestyle and I'll do it if God let me live long enough. Let's live our lives to the fullest guys

I cannot wait, I have wanted to it for such along time.
I am not or will never be suicidal.
My background when I did aggressive inline was gaps and heights.
I remember promising myself when I got my new Pro skates I would do it, I was doubted...but the day came..my 2 friends were at the top of 35ft-45ft set of stairs sitting.

See there faces when I flew past turned 180 degrees and see it mid air was priceless, hit my left knee on the last step upon landing but was fine and went straight the indoor skatepark across the road...memories!

I want this and need this...if something went wrong atleast I left this world choosing how but not of illness, accident etc.

Full send! Cannot wait to start my AFF!

Been tunnel flying since October, so I'll have 2 and half hours of tunnel time after my next session on the 7th. I signed up for AFF and looking forward to doing the class and then doing my first jump.

This Thursday I’m going to do my ground training that includes 1 jump, after that ima do the full coarse and I’m so excited! I did my first tandom a few weeks ago for my 16th birthday and I had made up my mind about wanting to do it before I even landed haha. Your right about conscious vs subconscious though. Even though I don’t really get scared by many things and even though i wasn’t scared when I did the tandem jump there seems to be a tiny voice somewhere in my head saying “maybe you shouldn’t” and stuff like that. Luckily I’m never going to listen to them haha. Anyway epic video and I’m glad you decided to do this. Doing this sort of thing really can say a lot about someone, in a very good way. I wish you a great life and many more jumps n stuff :)
