There is no magic solution to the urban heat island effect. Want to reduce the heat? Eliminate some of the pavement. We have too many roads and they are too wide. In addition to this being a huge taxpayer expense to maintain, they are making it easier to drive and increases the city's temperature.

What is going to be the long-term effects of these chemicals going into our water supply in the aquifers. Was any research done in regards to this?

So reflection of the heat into the air just makes it hotter. What about the chemical leaching? Solving one problem by creating two more seems crazy.
