A team of researchers said Phoenix’s “cool pavement” project has an effect and the city plans to add more streets to the project.

There is no magic solution to the urban heat island effect. Want to reduce the heat? Eliminate some of the pavement. We have too many roads and they are too wide. In addition to this being a huge taxpayer expense to maintain, they are making it easier to drive and increases the city's temperature.
