My brother recently died... and stupid as it sounds, this helped me through the grieving part... I love this game for that reason

I've been a gamer for over 30 years. Played and beat hundreds of them. This one will stick out and always be close to my heart. The creators did a phenomenal job. And thank you so much for a beautiful game and story.

i think it's really clever how each stage of the game is meant to symbolize each stage of grief. This game is so so amazing and deserves way more credit than it's been given.

I'm really impressed with how this game managed to convey such a clear story without words. I managed to tell around half way through that the story was about the boy 'passing on', trying to work his way up the tower to the light at the end. But around three quarters through, it became clear that it's also a story about grief. About loving and losing and loving again. And I really felt that.

Just finished this game. I’m still crying, hard. I miss my grandma whom passed away almost 4 years ago, in a few days it will mark the 4th year. I still miss her, this game helps me remember to just let go. I love her and can miss her, but I cannot change anything. This was such a wonderful and beautiful game, so emotional.

We cannot always base games on happy endings...Thats why I love Indie games, they showed us a wonderful adventure without any words and still made us realize beautiful moments of this journey full of emotions.. And since I could read the Spanish credits I see that this was inspired by a lot of people that left and stayed trough the making of the game, cried so much too!! So gorgeous, loved it!!! Mis agradecimientos a toda la equipo que ha echo este juego una maravillosa viaje para muchos, Gracias!!!

This is the first game to make me cry in a long time (journey was the first). Looking forward to seeing more games like this one.

This game was amazing. In all my life I've never cried so much at a game or even a film. The beauty of this game is that it slowly lets you unfold the intricacies of the story for yourself. It was the puzzles, artwork and sense of adventure that gripped me first. As it progressed the mystery and wonder took over and I was just in love. Then it broke my heart. It ripped me into pieces. 10/10.

I think the "boy" was the father all along, and the entire journey symbolized his journey through the stages of grief. The reason he started out as the boy was because in his mind, he'd rather he had been the one to die in the accident instead of his son, which is why we see the seemingly misdirecting scene at the beginning: it was his denial that started this whole journey. The world is seemingly beautiful and perfect, but there is always that nagging feeling of wrongness, symbolized by the red hooded figure he is always chasing, but can never quite reach. Gradually, anger sets in and the world is a desolate, scorched land plagued by monsters. We also begin to see the dark creatures that symbolize depression and grief. The giant bird represents our psyche that actively tries to fight back and continue our state of denial but as we pull out the stops and let the grief run free (the smoke), this opposing force weakens until we are able to face the fact that something bad has happened. In the bargaining stage, the dark creatures become hostile but the boy can seemingly fight back against them using the light orbs and the robots, and for a while it seems that the boy could win. That he could change the world back into the sunny place it used to be. But then we see the last of the robots sacrifice itself to open a door into more gloom and darkness, and you see the boy finally break down. The last stage is pretty obviously grief and depression. Instead of lighting torches, you proceed by extinguishing them. There is no light, and the dark creatures leave you be because you are clearly not a threat anymore. As the last of your hope dies (the fox), you stop feeling and become numb (stone). Life feels pointless, you've screamed so much you've lost your voice and you literally become a shadow of yourself. In the last stage, the boy fights to open up the flood gates and let the light back into the world, and finally the truth is revealed and relived. The "boy" walks towards the corridor and confronts himself (as the father). He chooses to accept his fate and leaps into the void. The father then gets up and goes to his son's room for the first time in a long time. All the locks the boy opened through out the game culminates in the final, physical act of unlocking the door into the room. Finally, he lets go.

Did u all hear of how the game maker cried for 2 days after reading the horrible comments on the internet? He even said he wasn't going to make the game if he knew how mean people were.

I had no idea of what the game was actually about until the last cutscene in the room. It was a shock for me. The whole perspective of the game changed. It was very heavy in emotions. I can only recommend

I just got done playing this game, and the ending hit me hard. I cried. WOW! This game is so simplistic and yet so layered all at once. Beautiful design, too.
