Frank Marocco and Simone Zanchini’s legendary album Bebop Buffet is a true goldmine of inspiration for accordionists and jazz lovers alike. This video features a transcription of Simone Zanchini’s incredible solo on Yardbird Suite, a timeless composition by saxophone giant Charlie Parker.

As a jazz accordion enthusiast, I’ve transcribed many parts of this live recording, but this solo has always stood out to me the most. To celebrate its brilliance, I arranged a walking bass line to complement the phrasing and improvised the comping around it, inspired by Zanchini’s approach.

If you love jazz accordion and are curious about how a walking bass can sound on the Stradella bass system, I hope you’ll enjoy this tribute.

Let me know what you think about it!
