Here I share with you some great watches that I have had in my watch collection previously but sold. I wish I did not sell these watches sometimes! They include watches from Omega, Rolex, Gerald Genta, Girard Perregaux, and other watches.

Today we are talking about glasses you should not wear.

I’ve never sold a watch and know perfectly the feeling of having trouble deciding which one to wear. Sure, some don’t get worn often but I love them when I do wear them and would miss them if they were gone.

John, you are looking dapper in the Brooks Brothers polo! You asked for feedback on where prices are going. I thought after 5 years of ever increasing prices on the secondary market for sport steel watches like Rolex, Audemars Piguet, and Patek Philippe (and other high horology Swiss brands) that prices would begin to dip. Technically, Rolex watches are readily in supply to a collector on the gray market. However, prices are not coming down in the foreseeable future because watches are considered a hard asset like gold, BitCoin, or real estate to collectors worldwide. This means that many collectors buy watches as a hedge against currency inflation. Plus watches are easy enough to turn into cash for around the same price you paid. In short, until another economic bubble occurs like in 2008, watch prices will continue to climb hyped by gray market YouTube videos hyping them. IMHO.

I can totally relate to what you described, John. Fact is we all make questionable choices in life so pls don't be self-critical in such a bad manner. Been there man, done that. You couldn't predict what happened in the watch market these last 10 years, none of us could even imagine, that's for sure. Great video man, congrats. PS.: Do not sell the red-grape 39mm OP!!!!

I have 29 in my collection. Have only ever sold 1 a G Shock Mud Master was too too big. Regret it a little still. Made a profit even on a G Shock. It’s nuts.

In the vintage collector market it is always more profitable to have box and original sale papers with warranty but if I have only the box of a desirable watch can I still be profitable within a few percentage of the same watch with box and papers?

I still kind of regret trading my 5711 blue dial for a Hublot big bang in 2016.

I wish I would have bought an Alain Silberstein a few years ago when they were relatively inexpensive. I was new to watch collecting and second-guessed myself, now to go after one is a much greater financial commitment. Same with the green Milgauss and the grape 39 OP. Live and learn!

I am very careful before I sell. I used to see myself as an Omega type of guy. I sold a Speedmaster to help to fund an Explorer II. Just a couple of months ago, I sold a Planet Ocean to help to fund a GMT Master II. No regrets so far 😁🙏.

I do not regret selling my 2007 50th anniversary Coaxial Submariner, no 1649 out of 1968 produced.
I lost money on it, not much, but it still was a difficult watch to move on.

I gave away two watches so far, I have never regretted it.

When was SS Daytona available from retail store? Not from 1997. Gold Daytona - yes, but SS Daytona was always in super hard to find.

Speaking of Omega special editions, I was negotiating with a dealer this very afternoon for a Seamaster ref. 2257.8000. This was a special edition of the ref. 2255.80. It was an individually numbered batch of 150 (yes - 150!) watches made for the Royal Navy with the unit insignia of Royal Navy Clearance Divers on the case-back. Unlike the Milspec Omega and Rolex dive-watches of the 1960s and 70s it wasn't issued to RN divers as operational equipment, of course. But it was nevertheless only supplied new within the navy not on the civilian market. The piece I'm getting was sold to the dealer by a former RN diver. It's full set, near unworn condition (still has a couple of the stickers on it.) That's one to keep in the collection, I reckon.

I’m on the verge of selling a Moser Henry Double Hairspring but I’m not getting much interest apart from lowball offers. Feel like hanging on to it, see what happens down the line

I think it’s a hump and I think it will be a few years before things settle down but it will settle in the still pricy range unfortunately for the end customer like myself!😳😳

I have been wanting to buy a GP Laureato 38mm for a while now and I can't find one. I dont want to spend more than 6500 for it as I know i'll be killed on the resale
