PAUSE.POINT.PURPOSE : a case of street furniture in Bengaluru

Reaching out to citizens of Bengaluru! We are trying to understand the need for daily life street furniture in the city. The project looks at developing a variety of street furniture pieces under three broad categories: ‘Pause’, ‘Point’, and ‘ Purpose’. It will cater to special subsets including the elderly, children, and differently-abled for a more inclusive design approach.

Whether you are making a short trip to the next-door grocery store, a long trip to work, a fun trip with your friends or just walking around and exploring the city, these furniture pieces will make your experience more comfortable, accessible, and exciting!
Help us identify active pedestrian zones in your neighborhood where we can strategically place “Pause, Point, and Purpose” elements on the network. The data collected will aid us in building a case for the need for street furniture!

Why Bengaluru? The city has recently laid several km of good quality roads, footpaths, and underground services through various road development projects like TENDER SURE roads, white topping, etc. This lays a perfect opportunity for new street furniture to be introduced on the surface and complete the 3 layers required to make a complete street model.
