Following up from my previous video, here is a lil devlog about a cozy game I made about just trees!
Whether your a game development expert or just starting on your game dev journey, making a micro game can be a great learning experience.

I tried to build a cozy game in Unity as fast as I could. But I still wanted the game to have a genuine cozy feel and have a proper gameplay loop. Many indie game developers have been inspired from games like Stardew Valley, Terraria, Fields of Mistria and other cozy type games.

Capturing that cozy vibe when developing a game can be challenging, but developing prototypes is a great way to test concepts. When going into this game dev challenge, I wasn't totally sure what I wanted to code. But I ultimately started to think about woodcutting in Runescape. Its a relatively boring mechanic, but people do it for hours. So ultimately in this devlog, I tried to recreate that woodcutting gameplay loop in a cozy style!

Let me know what you thing of this game challenge and devlog!

I just think of when I did woodcutting in rune scape, I loved summoning things that way I had company. Could be cool to have the creature you feed wood to, able to evolve and follow you around

it's funny how many experienced ppl make this kind of video. I've actually tried making a game with Claude and you do need some basic knowledge in the programming language used for the game you wanna make

as for content I would say as long as it's related to game development/game design try to make a video out of whatever you are interested in at the moment. Even if it's just talking about some new design concepts, doesn't have to be something super grandiose. It makes making content about it easier and will probably result in something higher quality than if you're semi forcing yourself into 'meta' video ideas

Something I noticed is that the tree loses health at the beginning of the chopping animation. This feels weird and maybe the hp animation can be delayed until the axe hits the tree?

Is the basketball for beauty or do you actually play with it? 😊
I didn't know there were other game developers who like to watch basketball, it is quite rare in this field haha 😅
