I’m 100% sure as a 56 year old man I’ll still be wondering about golden Freddy and its role in this franchise.

The fact that Cassidy is the one that controls the head and Crying Child controls the body could explain why Golden Freddy’s jumpscare is just his head. That’s the only hostile part of him. Up until UCN, when Crying Child is put to rest, and only Cassidy remains. That could also explain why the jumpscare is a fully animated Fredbear

I love this theory so much. The whole “flip the happiest day and it becomes the bite” was soooo good. But the glued face on golden Freddy kid was incredible!

I LOVE the clue that blond kid's face is glued on top of another kid's face in the movies. Its such a small, hard to notice detail, but says so much. I've never seen it until now

I also want to bring attention to the fact that golden Freddy’s jump scares have always been just the head, which lines up with the vengeful spirit being the head since the body is not vengeful

I still love how Golden Freddy is STILL the most mysterious animontronic in the series 10 years later

That's also why its always Golden Freddy's head as the jumpscare whereas the body is lifeless and doesn't move, the crying child doesn't want to be aggressive and doesn't move whereas cassidy attacks as a floating head

Let’s not forget in the movie Abby literally changes the drawing of spring Bonnie holding hands with the MCI into what actually happened (spring Bonnie holding a knife over the dead bodies of the MCI) and only then do the animatronics close in on Afton

we had a whole arc about golden freddy trying to reimagine his lore just to land right back at "yeah theres two and its cassidy and crying child"

This has always been my theory as well (and tbh I assumed it was easily the most popular), but one aspect that I've seen be questioned before is the notion of Cassidy being TOYSNHK. Specifically, the idea being what makes Cassidy so special? That of all of Afton's victims and all his heinous crimes, why is Cassidy the one that should have been spared (instead of Charlie, Susie, or CC for instance)? And my interpretation has always been that "TOYSNHK" is basically a threat—that it's not saying "This was where you went too far, William", it's saying "This was where your plan backfired. This was the wrong kid to pick."

So, all the way back in the days of fnaf 2, if someone went "hey why does the full body of golden freddy show up but only the head flies at you in the jumpscare?" They were actually really onto something! (or at least retconned to be)
