Pyli, meaning "gate", is a semi mountainous village at an altitude of 230 m, in Thessaly, and is famous for the arched bridge which was built for Agio Vissariona in 1514 to connect Thessaly and Epirus. The Portaikos river which is tributary of Pinios flows through the village, between the two facing mountains, Koziakas and Itamos, forming a natural amazing gate to the Pindos mountain range.
