BJP suffered a sudden shock after 4 ruling MLAs and 1 minister chose to quit the party and shake hands with SP ahead of the state assembly elections.

BJP MLA Vinay Sakya's daughter has claimed that her father was abducted and forced to join SP, meanwhile, this string of resignation is a big blow for the BJP in the upcoming 2022 UP Assembly Election.

Swami Prasad Maurya, Uttar Pradesh labor minister has resigned from the party saying "He was unhappy with BJP's negligence toward Dalits, farmers and medium scale businesses and unemployed youth in the state". Maurya's resignation was followed by BJP MLA Roshan Lal Verma, Bhagwati Singh Sagar, Brajesh Prajapati, and Vinay Shakaya all four are supposed to join SP.
