Dave seems like a really cool guy to work for... he's very knowledgeable and talks with his guys throughout the process! Best way to lead and for them to learn!

Dave is great in his diagnosis of automotive problems. What is great is he uses each challenge to help his techs become more knowledgeable.

Aussie here! Had this happen with my 2015 Holden SS, 6L L77 had flat cam and lifter failure, which I didn't realise until two years into ownership 😢 full rebuild but a whole new beast was built! Crazy listening to Dave on this topic because it's almost word for word what my mechanic told me. Love the content dave!

Interned at the plant that made every GM valve lifter since 1951. One of the employees had scrapped his 1970s K2500 farm truck with 475k miles, but saved the engine. He pulled the lifters out for us to inspect. They were not only "in tolerance" - they were perfect. All 16 of them. We didn't have the tooling to inspect the cam, but aside from faintly being able to see where the lifters had been riding on it - no detectable wear, whatsoever. Wednesday engine, I guess.

Had a 1978 chevy Impala 305 v8 that the cam did the same thing. Brings back memories from 40 years ago

I'm a retired mechanic. I would go to coffee with the old timers. I worked for farmers then. They couldn't believe the knowledge that came out of my mouth and the things I could fix. I'm getting to be the old timers now.

My dad stripped oil drain plug. I eventually got it out but I had to keep asking myself why it was stuck when not cross threaded. I realized the o-ring was not lubed at last oil change. Always ask my something happens, cause she's affect. Good job Dave!

Had a Briggs and Stratton with a flat cam. Changed out the cam, freshened the oil, kept on mowing. Now already 4 yrs since.
