So glad I found this. Never had an issue with anything Burt’s Bees until using those wipes. Used one last night and face instantly burned and had red bumps, today it hurts to touch, like sunburn. My eyes have extremely dry and flaky skin today so I hope it goes away soon

I have to make a comment. Your situation with Burts Bees was kind of my situation with Shea Moisture (the Producer of various skin, makeup, hair care.) They posit themselves as a "Natural" or "Near natural" brand, and have various lines that utilize a lot of different herbs, fruits, plants, vitamins, and other 'natural' elements within their lines to help your skin, hair, etc.
A few years ago, I tried their skin line, the Peace Rose line. Now, many of us enjoy the scent of roses, a mild fragrance would put you at ease when taking off the makeup at the end of the day. I put the makeup remover on, and OMG I nearly had to go to the hospital because I thought I was going blind with acid in the eyes. It burnt like hellfire. I am not exaggerating. There were many people on their own website in the comments that complained about the eyes burning. Not just myself, it wasn't that I was the oddball case out. (that is why I checked.) I checked on Amazon as well, in the comments section, even more complaints! I think the problems was that they "assumed" that since essential oils are a "natural" product that they could add a few drops in. Well, there were a few drops too many, because that is the thing that can burn. Essential oils are like medicine, a few drops are the essence of maybe 100 or 1000 pounds worth of plant oil, leaves twigs, the whole shebang. It is distilled down to a drop, so it can be overkill. They are adding in oil not to give the product a slight fragrance and working essence, they are adding it in like it's Pine Sol, rubbing your skin to the bone. Don't worry about skin texture, because there'll be nothing left when you're done!
That is the essence of the problem, and I wrote to them. No response. I called them. No one picked up and I got an answering machine. No one ever called back. One day, they need to hear from some lawyers of people that they may have harmed for treating everyone with a cavalier attitude. I don't buy their products and I refuse to give them my money.
With Burt's bees, I have gotten shoddy products like their blusher cracking because the formula is dry, it crumbled. I could have powderized it completely and put it in an old Bare Minerals jar, but I was kind of like "meh" with it so I tossed it. Not a fan. The BB cream is ok, but has a wonky after smell to it that I don't particularly enjoy on my skin and I have to smell for the rest of the day. Won't repurchase. I can tell that the eyeshadows aren't that pigmented, so I am not going to sacrifice my money, especially when I can get the better palettes offered by Pacifica. I had 2 of there new matte lipsticks, and 1 was very hard, would not deposit color, and there was a rancid oil smell to it. Which was weird, because they had just come out with them, and I ordered them direct from Burts Bees. How can a new product smell rancid? Well it did, and even though it was a nice color, I had to pitch it. I should have sent it back, but after the blusher incident, they would have thought me nuts or just too damn picky.
I also had problems with Juice beauty (from Ulta) a higher end natural brand, with their makeup products going rancid in 3 to 6 months, which is not long enough for me, I don't wear the same thing day after day, and won't finish it in time, anyway, I think makeup (excepting mascara) should last at least a year. Again, with the rancid oil smells.
This is why I am very leary about "Natural" or Green skin care. The companies I think mean well, but they haven't gotten the formulas correct and don't put in good enough preservatives. Or are stupid about formulations and think they could go hog wild with the essential oils. No one listens to you either, so I say "screw 'em". They're not getting my money if they think they want big money from me, or even modest amounts, but can't perform. I won't burn my eyes out, or put rancid oils on my face, it's not worth it.
Back to Milani, Loreal, Revlon, Physician's Formula, at least I've never gotten a rancid or dangerous product that burned me. But I CONSISTENTLY have issues with green products, so until they learn to get good labs on board with them, producing "clean" stuff that IS SAFE AND CLEAN...well...goodbye. Money goes elsewhere.

You're not alone, Alice: I cannot use any of Burt's Bees facial cleansing products either! Both their micellar water and various makeup remover wipes reddened and irritated my skin!

Aye, not every product works out for everyone 🤷🏻‍♂️

I love Burt’s Bees and use their products but I love your honesty! It’s so true that even with natural products it doesn’t mean it works for everyone. I wish they would be more transparent with their fragrance so we know what products we can and can’t use!

Interesting. I bought the coconut cleansing clothes and it makes made my face burn a little. I gave the firming day cream a try and the scent is overpowering when I first put it on. Not sure if this is the reason that I have 2 pimples now on my face. I tried the eye cream as well, but that one right now seems ok. The tinted lip balm makes my lips tingly, I assume it has mint.

I've had mixed experiences with BB. The pomegranate lip balm dries out my lips where as the mango one is great. They used to have a clove oil lip balm they discontinued that was amazing. The daisy toner made me break out and felt as if it left a film on my face... same with the willow bark acne toner. The tomato soap and the lemon body oil were great. A very hit and miss brand for me. Does that leave me excited about their brand? No, not really. Although I am always happy to find a product that works for me.

I cackled at your SCA comment. They can be crazy. I got attacked there once because I let my animals lick my face and get their hair on me. Apparently the fact my cat sleeps with her face on mine is THE WORST THING EVER and not totally adorable. Taking care of your skin is awesome but you shouldn't be sacrificing happiness for it gah.

"Natural" definitely doesn't mean it's safe for your skin! I bought the Doctor Lip Bang's Buzzing Lip Balm from Ulta off the sale rack. It claims it's 100% natural and "only" contains essential oils...which made my lips peel and bleed (BLEED) after applying. Low-key traumatized after that one.

I love all the Burt’s Bee’s sensitive skin care line. I’ve never used the wipes but everything else has been great so far.

I truly don't understand the need/want for fragrance in skincare! There is literally no point. Yes to Coconut wipes burn my skin(but smell amazing). I don't have sensitive skin and I'm pretty easy to please especially with makeup wipes. But holy moly...burn city!

Very good intro, you are right. This is my favorite brand and it has absolutely saved me skin. I recommended it to a friend and it did not work out for her at all, it would clog her pores, irritate her acne. It was terrible, but for me it is an absolutely perfect brand for me.

I’ve never tried their skincare but I do love their blush and lip shine. Thanks for the honest review! I have tried Andalou Naturals and haven’t had any problems with their skincare so hopefully you’ll have better luck trying them out.

Their lip balms and lipsticks did me the EXACT SAME WAY! Irritation all around my mouth. Spread to my chin and nose. Doctor diagnosed atopic dermatitis. 😞

I'm glad you gave us an honest review of how the products didn't work for you. It's not all butterflies and rainbows when it comes to skincare. I haven't been particularly impressed with any of the Burt's Bees stuff I've tried either. I used to use the lip balm, but I found that aside from the tingle, it wasn't really doing much. I ended up with a free pack of face wipes, but they smelled horrible. Plus looking back I think they irritated my skin, which is something I'm not used to so I didn't recognize it at the time.

I have also been displeased with a few of the skincare products from this company, however it still remains my favourite because of their sensitive skin line. If you struggle with acne or sensitive skin or aging skin or truly any skin type, you could probably have great results with their sensitive line. Its fragrance free and all the products feel amazing and work well with most skin types. I have very sensitive acne prone skin, and my husband has oily acne prone skin, but both of us have been using the burts bees sensitive line exclusively for two years now and we adore it. Neither of us has had an acne flare up since using this line, and my skin is always soft and supple. I constantly get compliments on my skin and its largely due to this line.

Because I'm sensitive, I cannot use the other lines this company offers. But I would encourage you to try the following products before discrediting the company as a whole:
The sensitive skin cream cleanser
The sensitive skin day cream
The sensitive skin night cream

The cream cleanser is so soothing and works great for removing makeup and WILL NOT BURN YOUR EYES I promise! Use a gentle wet wash cloth to remove the cleanser because it is creamy so if you're acne prone you dont want any residue. Both the day and night creams are gentle and light enough for acne prone skin, though I prefer the day cream and use it exclusively both night and day.

I do agree with you that the products you reviewed can be harsh for anyone with sensitive skin, and I dont like those specific products myself either. Bit I do really hope you'll get this line before you write off burts bees skincare because it truly is a miraculous line. If you check out dr. Drey she does a review based on a scientific study which showed the benefits of this line, it's quite good.

Omg I just applied the micellar 3 in 1 cleansing water and my face is all red and irritated, I thought I was the only one, but I think there must be an ingredient that's not suppossed to be there or I don't know 😪 but I'm really sad

Burts bees pleasure and pain:
Pain: I started using the burts bees sensitive wipes for 3 months. I even made a 4 star review because I love it so much. Around about the 5 month I couldn't use the wipes anymore because of the burning. I am pretty certain the formula has changed. I even noticed denatured alcohol which is never good for your skin so I threw away my wipes and purchased neutrogena naturals and clinique make up remover balm. I hope for the best with neutrogena wipes.
Pleasure: I used the burts bees cleansing oil and it does wonders. It smells so divine and it does not irritate my skin. However I don't use it daily. My complexion looks so glowly after use. Some of it did get in my eye and it wasn't a pleasant feeling but to be honest that wasn't enough for me to terminate the cleansing oil. Fragrances are so so for me. I realize citrusy fragrance irritates my skin so I limit the use. I love the fresh vitamin c necture mask but I can only use it once a week. It makes my skin bright as the sun and even as iron. But it slightly becomes sensitive after use. Something that isn't bad enough to trash the product. However I would only use it once a week & that's it. I certainly wouldn't recommend anyone to use it with sensitive skin or inexperience with skin care because the results can go all bad.

I used to love Burt's Bees. Then when they got bought out I started having some pretty bad allergic reactions to products I had already been using for a while when I went to repurchase. The lip balm was the worst, really bad reaction and I had used that exact lip balm before. I don't know what their deal is. I use mostly natural brands, mostly drugstore, and I don't really have issues with any other brand but them.
