I've been wanting to start a series on this conflict for a long time. This war brought about a new balance of power in Europe, and it shook throughout the world. Buckle up and relax as we begin a dive into the battles, odd politics, and personalities of War of the Spanish Succession like never before on Youtube.

Today we cover the opening moves of 1702 in the Rhine, 1701-02 in Flanders and Italy, and the 1702 Cadiz expedition in Spain. The next episode will be 1703-1704 and the road to Blenheim. One of the greatest battles in modern history.

Ever wanted a channel that covers the U.S Civil War week by week similar to The Great War channel? Check out Civil War Week by Week with Johnathan Teagan. Another smaller historian on Youtube. There is at least one episode each week with some side content covering topics related or unrelated to the war. He is now in the year 1862!

Great job. It's amazing how this war is largely forgotten today.

Watching this is a joy. Its brings all the different strands together into a cohesive whole.

I am, however, struggling with the names and the subtitles are beyond hopeless. The transcript is more helpful, but it also butchers the names. It would be helpful if you could proof read transcript to remove the most obvious problems. This is also important for people with hearing difficulties. Is it also possible to put an identiying name over the pictures (not the full name, just an identifying one such as "Villiars")? To be honest, one man in a curley wig looks like every other man in a curley wig.

This does not detract from the wonderful result of your hard work and research. It is answering a number of questions I had about the complex and messy war.

If you remaster this video someday you should fix the location of the Battle of Vigo Bay, you depict it near Cádiz but it happened all the way north in Galicia
(edit: typo)

Great videos. I want to translate your videos into Chinese and put them on the Chinese video webside bilibili, do you think this is right for you?

You can pronounce it Sa-voy if you want. In English that is acceptable. Edit: 9:30 is also funny because you bet there was massive inflation in Cadiz after all that silver was dumped into the money supply at once 😅.
