Mathews Halon compound bow review

The Halon compound bow is the new flagship for Mathews archery in 2016. We look at the Halon compare it to the Chill R and HTR.

Just bought the Halon 6, and I agree with everything said in this video completely. I've never shot a bow with this short of a brace height that felt this forgiving, and smooth to draw. The only issue I had with drawing is that last hump. I came from a single cam bow that was relatively smooth and even throughout the entire draw cycle until you got back into the let-off. This bow pulls really smooth until you hit that peak about 3/4 of the way through the draw, and as soon as you crack through that peak it just dumps off into nothing and you're rock solid at full draw. You have room to get lazy, and I wasn't expecting that with these kind of cams. It's so solid at full draw that when letting the bow down it's almost like you have to give it a push for it to go. It's a strange sensation, almost like you could completely let go of the weight and it'd still stay drawn. Obviously an exaggeration but that's the best way to describe it. I got used to the peak in the draw relatively quickly though.

I haven't hunted with it yet, that'll start this weekend but I'm extremely excited. Still not even sure if I'm gonna run a stabilizer on this bow as it holds so well without one, and it naturally rolls over in your wrist on the shot anyhow.

I found your reviews last year and they are the best I've seen. I've shot the Halonand I also found it a bit heavy but the weight enhances my shooting as I am a treestand hunter in the southeastern US. I'd like to see you do a side by side comparison with this bow and the Decree. Haven't shot the Decree yet but am considering both bows. But keep the reviews coming. You're helping archers all over the world

Love your reviews! My Halon 6 comes in about a week! I was wondering what kind of stabilizer system do you recommend for hunting and 3D set up? One that work for both applications! Keep up the great work!

I'm trying to decide what Mathews bow to get for the upcoming hunting season. I was thinking the Z2 or the No-Cam HTX. I have a 26" 70lb draw. Which would be the best of the two/which other Mathews bow would you recommend?
