System Cooling Policy Missing in Power Options | How to fixed?

System Cooling Policy is missing in Windows? System Cooling Policy lets you change the cooling mode of your system. If you couldn’t see the System Cooling Policy option under the Power Options of Control Panel, you need to tweak the registry settings. In this article, we’ll show you how to restore the missing System Cooling Policy option in Windows 11, 10, and 7.

👉 Open Notepad. Copy and paste the code below into Notepad, then save it as a .reg file:

Thank you so much!!! My laptop's fan won't shut up, saw a tutorial saying to put plugged in to 'passive' and it will work. Saw I didn't had the cooling policy, this worked! My laptop's fan instantly went quite as soon I put into passive :) hopefully nothing bad happens lol

FFS this is why I hate updates. Why remove such options Microsoft? EIther people don't know it exists so it doesn't bother them whether it is there or not, or they do know it exists because they use it and they want to keep using it.

In my case, the key is "Attributes" was set to 1. I changed it to 2, which fixed it.

In short, I looked through the subkeys for until I find the one that had "@%SystemRoot%\system32\powrprof.dll, -351, Processor power management" for FriendlyName, which was in my case. Then, I looked through the subkeys of that key till I found the subkey that had "@%SystemRoot%\system32\powrprof.dll, -371, System cooling policy" for the Friendlyname. Then, I changed the "Attributes" 32-bit DWORD from 1 to 2.

went back but no system cooling policy
shut down, waited 12 seconds, turned on the laptop, again still no system cooling policy
