Closures, cancellations in South Lake Tahoe due to Caldor Fire smoke

Winds are pushing smoke from the Caldor Fire into the Tahoe Basin, prompting closures and cancellations. As of Tuesday night, there are no evacuation warnings or orders for Lake Tahoe. Air quality index readings ranged from "very unhealthy" to "hazardous" in and around South Lake Tahoe. The normally bustling tourist area is now quiet, with few people seen spending time outdoors. KCRA 3 met domestic and international tourists who said they have never seen wildfire smoke like this.

So perhaps logging can be a good thing. It refreshes the land, helps clear old brush (if done right), and prevents fires in the areas for at least a large number of years. Just force the loggers to clear the brush as they go along, and, of course, to replant.

0:57 FYI most of the bottom portion was red before the smoke came in. I was there last Friday.

I feel bad for all the people who have traveled so far and not to be able to see the beauty of the lake. You CANNOT be out in that smoke. I live in Reno and we have had it REALLY bad the five days, the AQI as high as 400+. I have mild COPD and have not been out of the house for four days now, I just can't breathe any of that smoke. I even have kept the cats inside, they don't need to breath that either and both of them were having upper respiratory issues. Wish I could help the chickens.

With the fires that we have been getting the last few years we have had smoke here off and on a and then the Dixie fire started and we got smoke from that and now the Caldron fire added to that. It's really been horrible for weeks. I have to say, if smoke is all I'm dealing with and not directly with a fire that is destroying my life along with all the forests, I'm lucky, .

.... climate lockdown coming...I live here, the smoke is so bad..all by design..Tourism is ending..sad for the people hurt by this, hope all our wildlife will be ok :(

Thank the firefighters who fail 100% at their job…. To prevent fires. What other industry fails at their job and still has a job.
