That's the problem!! They keep attracting the best players in the world because they offer them the highest wages. Players should be motivated by winning League and CL not money. Thats why we have so many mercenaries in our team. Even 21 year old Sancho gets paid 350k p/w!!

Man Utd need to stop chasing the worlds best and build a cohesive team focused on a clear philosophy.

Buying players for commercial reasons, to open up new markets or because they’re a big player doesn’t work.

They need to build a team.

You can’t use Ronaldo as an example of them still being a massive pull, he only went there because of his history there, if he had no previous stint there he 100% would not have gone to Utd.

Major signings he says, a 37 year old Zlatan, a 36 year old Ronaldo, and Pogba who they paid a world record fee for and who was an old boy, who then massively failed to live up to those expectations. Remember Pogba was seen as superior to DeBruyne when they bought him... Yeah. Great signings...

They can attract who they want it matters not one jot. They've also attracted a losing mentality and the club's become rotten. People say how good their squad is but really think about it. The defence is pretty bang average, midfield bar Fernandes average. Ronaldo is class, Rashford has dipped. Cavani over the hill, Sancho unproven, martial going. Greenwood I agree is. The team is nothing special

The problem is in my opinion the same as the problem Chelsea had with player power! Those players are not trying a leg, those players have an over inflated opinion of themselves, those players have been instrumental in getting Moyes, Lois Van Gaal, Jose Mourinho and Olé sacked by simply not listening and not executing the game plan by not trying, not working hard or running! It will not matter who gets the managers job there while the squad stays largely in tact! If they are resigned to not winning the PL in the next 5 years then get shut of the lot of them and refresh that dressing room with young talent and potential and allow them to grow and gain experience together. Ofcourse it hasn't helped the shambolic way the club has lurched from one transfer window to the next trying to sign marquee players as an appeasement to a fan base who are not that nieve!

By offering crazy wages like they did with Pogba when they finished 7th/8th

They have plenty of money so definitely can, however I think a lot of the top players will want to know who there manager is going to be after the end of the season!

He said United has a massive pull and named Pogba, past prime zlatan and Ronaldo (nostalgic)

The squad points, he has between Manchester United, City & Liverpool, is very telling, of why Manchester United have fallen behind, Pep and Klopp have built their own squad in their own image, over 5/6 years, United as he said, are still carrying some Ferguson players, Moyes players, LVG players, and Mourinho players, which means, a philosophy manager would practically have to gut the whole squad, and build a whole new one from scratch, which is what Manchester United need rn

They don't need big players. What would be good for them is to develop cheap signings and academy players like Liverpool. Klopp signed Salah and Mané for like 30m...

Ferguson won 2 UCL trophies in almost 3 decades. It's laughable to think that United have an inherent right to win it, or even the Premier league especially now that there's more competition.

United going exclusively for the best player with 0 thought on team cohesion is why they’re in such a state

United haven’t been able to
Attract the best players for a while now just look at the clubs who were in for most of their recent transfers

They have been attracting top footballers and still are to this day however what they’re not attracting is top world class managers who have a specific system, specific style of play, and a fear factor that the players fear and respect!! That’s the only difference, all those other narratives are absolutely rubbish!!

The answer for anyone with common sense and football knowledge: Currently; No chance in Hell would a top, world class, elite player want to go to united over the likes of Liverpool, City, Chelsea, or Bayern. In the future; due to uniteds financial power its probable and highly likely they will be successful again and then they can attract the best players once again. I hope that is a long long long way off though lol

No mention of the lack of DoF at United over that period. That (and Woodward's desire for full control) has been the biggest cause of failure.

Man Utd have never been able to attract the biggest signing. Most players they bought under Fergie were players slightly under the radar, such as RVN, Vidic, Park etc. The only elite at the time signing that Fergie made I think was Rooney. I think he wanted Ronaldinho but lost out to Barca.
