This hand drawn style is beautiful! The animations are so smooth and changing direction mid air works so well. I look foreword to seeing more of this!

i don't know why everytime people see this they bring up the level design as if it's an actual level
i always saw this more as a playground for sonic's physics and abilities

anyways it's cool that there's a playable demo now
i heard progress would be halted indefinitely because the programmer left the team

Sonic CD intro will always be peak. I've always thought they should make a game that used sprite work like this! The best part of this art style is that it isn't too busy and its easy to tell where enemies and obstacles are.

I didn't see any particularly interesting level design, but the aesthetic is insanely well done, and the physics look very polished. The game looks slower and more zoomed out than normal Classic games, which I actually appreciate; the extremely limited time to react to what's coming keeps me from appreciating Classic Sonic's gameplay. I honestly think this game could pursue its own identity and put its focus on Sonic's moveset rather than momentum physics (or focus on both), and it would rival some indie games that have an actual price tag.
It may not be what they're going for, but this project gives me extreme Metroidvania vibes. And I absolutely think it could work; upgrades and backtracking were already a core part of SA1 and SA2.

Saw this game a few times, including when it was pencil sketches. Such a beautifully animated game, but Sonic's movement and physics looked sluggish. Happy to see those aspects improved and sped up!

Beautiful art style. This is exactly what I want a next-generation 2D Sonic game to be. So much potential here with the smooth animation style. You could present anything and go literally almost anywhere without being held back by pixel art or bad 3D. Great work.

I wish Sega would license this game. Its so beautifully done and you can feel the love radiating from it. And so much more original too with the ring spending for air dashing. I'd love to see this made available for everyone

God this is amazing. What I think is the best part is seeing the aerial spindash. Giving Sonic that move opens up so many possibilities, it's even better than the homing attack since you actually have to aim to use it. It's great for fighting enemies off the ground and can make for some unique platforming moments.

Good overtime video, really the creator of this game seemed that his design is very good, so this fangame looks more animated by tripplejaz and the rest ^^
