Did you know that the most common sound in English is the schwa sound. So if you want to improve your British English pronunciation this is the video you need. What is the schwa sound? It's the sound we use for unstressed vowels. It is used all the time in British English pronunciation especially in weak forms. The aim of this English lesson is to give you a brief overview of what the schwa sound is and when it is used. If you would like a more detailed video, let me know and I'll see if I can make one for you.

I love the way you explain the sound.
I mean, you use common sounds and that makes easier to understand.

And of course, your voice is a PLUS for this.

Thanks Tom!

Came across your channel a few days ago - now I'm obsessed! As a trilingual individual (I'm a foreign language teacher in the US) I'm obsessed with linguistic differences between the same language. All those tiny language nuances are just fascinating to me!

Great lesson Tom. I've never paid attention to this sound in connected speech even though I knew it as an individual sound. Thanks again. Please do a video on stress shift.

Another great video from you - thank you so much, Tom! That was brilliant!Probably you could make a video about how to use "rather" (seems to me it could be used as a verb sometimes but I don't understand how), "as to" and "in order to". CheersJulia from Bristol

I'm brazilian and in portuguese we usually pronounce all the letters of the words, so the reduced sounds are pretty difficult to me, specially sounds wich doesn't exist in my language. Your videos are pretty useful, thanks for your lessons.

Hello Tom...another great video. I enjoyed it a lot! Thank you for the video. So, I was wondering may be you could make a video about 'clause' in future. And, is there any particular way to understand phrasal verbs in English, or should one just learn them byheart?
