It's been under a century since World War II came to an end, but the changes the conflict brought to modern society will be felt throughout human history. Without the horrors and innovations to come about during that era, would the world be the same?

What do you think would be the biggest factors in preventing WWII from happening?

France’s insistence on punitive measures put upon Germany is the number one reason the rematch happened. After Germany kicked the shit out of them at Sedan, they spent the next 50 years writing books about how the Germans caught them with their pants down. The fact France has a seat at the Security Council dumbfounds the Russians. Stalin said their time on the world stage was over. He said to Roosevelt, “I understand England getting a seat at the table. They fought the Nazis alone and held the line; but the French? They didn’t do a thing!”

If they didn't impose extraneous punishment on Germany for WW1 it may all not happened

06:05 No you can NOT "Trace modern microwaves to radar technology developed by the US Army".
What you CAN trace microwaves to is the CAVITY Magnetron developed by John Randall and Harry Boot at the University of Birmingham, England in 1940.
Poor research!

The seeds of WWII were firmly planted in 1919 in Versailles. The first "harvest" of those seeds took place in Manchuria in 1932, four years before the Rhineland, six years before the Anschluss in Austria and the annexation of the Sudetenland and seven years prior to the September 1, 1939 invasion of Poland. Why is it that most historians are so Euro-centric in their establishment of the "start" of WWII? For seven years vicious and horrifically deadly combat (and conquest) was taking place in Asia. Even the Soviet Union and Japan started sparring in Manchuria before Poland was invaded. Factually, the "shooting war" of WWII started in 1932.

The “occupation” of Austria? You mean the occupation they overwhelmingly voted for at +90%, which was entirely consistent with Woodrow Wilson’s self determination pledge? The Austrians absolutely wanted reunification with Germany and they welcomed the Nazis with celebrations and parades after the Anschluss.

Why not just tell the story straight? It’s so much more interesting and you actually get to learn the proper lessons from history.

Austria was not an occupation, but an annexation.

The origins of WWII lay in what was something of a feud in WWI a fallout among rogues, resulting in Germany being carved up in an overly harsh treaty of Versailles, making part two inevitable.

Pretty sure WWII would happen with the Soviet Union as the agressor.
England and France were planning to send troops to Finland.

The one i think about is if when hitler went to art school and his teacher failed him, what if he passed him instead

Sorry, it was the invasion of Poland by both Germany and the Soviet Union that started WWII. We've allowed that fact to fade because of our not wanting to hold Russia responsible for their military alliance with Hitler to go unpunished.

I think without the U.S. dropping nuclear bombs on Japan and then seeing the horrors these weapons produced, we very well could have ended up having a nuclear war if world leaders weren't so hesitant to start one, knowing what it would do to their own country.

Radar was developed by the British not America. The British gave the cavity magnetron to America as part of lend lease

Woodrow Wilson was to blame - if he hadn't soured relations with Germany and Japan during the interwar years, WWII and all other problems that followed WOULDN'T have occurred!!!

WWI guaranteed WWII. As much as we like to think WWII might have been avoidable but it was not. The cost of WWI and the rise of socialism were only two reasons, admittedly two of the biggest, reasons WWII became inevitable.

Without Von Braun rocket projects (V1 and V2 especially) there wouldn’t have been space exploration and race between the US and USSR

As a signatory to the Versailles treaty the USA was just as responsible as Britain and France for containing Germany.

A more interesting alternative would be in World War I had never happened. The crappy treaty of Versailles made World War II inevitable. Unconditional surrender and helping to rebuild is what should have been done the first time around.

6 years of war = 20 years of development.

And without WWII, I would not exist. My Dad was a GI, my Mom, a Brit.
