NYC Stops Migrants From Working… On Purpose

Many asylum seekers in New York want jobs, but although over 200,000 have come through NYC, only 2000 have been connected with full time employment. This is in spite of officials saying thousands of jobs go unfilled and are available for asylum seekers.

Let me get this straight:

New York State has identified 45, 000 jobs available to migrants and asylum seekers, some of which have been set aside for them. I've been unemployed for almost 4 months and have been applying to more than 250 jobs per week, and have had few interviews. I hold 2 master degrees (MA in Political Science and MS in Data Analytics) and am half-way (in terms of credits) through a PhD program in Global Leadership.

I'm autistic and 58 years old, and although I have faced disability and age discrimination, I simply want to work.

I'm sympathetic to those who come here seeking a better life, but US Citizens should come first under all circumstances. If there are 45, 000 openings, we should be the first in line to apply for them.

Make this make sense.

So they ARE economic migrants, and NOT asylum seekers. Asylum seekers don’t say; “if I would’ve known it was going to be this way, I wouldn’t have come”.

I legitimately cannot get over the fact that because I was Born and Raised here America I do NOT qualify for any assistance BUT if I was born in a different country and crossed the border, THEN I would Qualify for fully paid assistance that covers my basic monthly living expenses... HOW IS THIS THE REALITY WE ARE LIVING IN!?

Selling food on the street without a license. If you’re an American citizen you try that and see what happens.

Most of these asylum seekers had multiple countries they passed through they could have claimed asylum. I honestly don’t feel bad for them, they’re are plenty of Americans suffering from the same situation but aren’t getting any help from the government.

Even if there were jobs for all of them, the pay isn't going to be enough to live in NY, if appts are $6, 000 a month. That is delusional 😐

I’m completely disgusted. These people are put ahead of American citizens. They collect my tax dollars.

Migrants tell reporters they go to sanctuary cities "for all the free stuff." That could be the root of the problem.

If they are unhappy then the city should give them a ticket to get back home instead of spending millions to keep them here.

Wait, so if he knew finding work would be hard in the US he would have stayed in his original country? That sounds like he isn't really an asylum seeker. Weird.

Are there no unemployed Americans in NYC? I would hope Americans would be first to get these jobs.
