I'm not really a fan of them but Limited Run do open pre-orders now. Ground Zero Texas was available for 2 weeks with no limit on how many they were going to sell.

Nice update as always, and I agree an optical drive solution would be great for the PS2. My drive was being odd so I swapped my games onto a hard drive but options like that would be excellent for PS1 games as well.

Agreed, popstarter is the PS1 emulator used when trying to play games on ps2 though OPL. And in my opinion, it sucks. I had all kinds of issues. I’ve been using PSX launcher to play PS1 physical game backups. Still totally agree, there’s totally a market for a PS2 ODE. I’d buy one in a heartbeat assuming the price was right.

imagine being able to fit a 2.5" drive in place of the optical drive. Although I thought the drive itself has some sort of encryption/decryption mechanism, in which it checks the drive before booting a game.

I may be wrong about this, but I believe the 9000 series PS2 slim cannot be softmodded. At least not FMCB.

Digital purchases aren’t regular purchases and there should be a different word for it. It’s closer to a lease than a purchase.

And I heavily use opl with a chinese sata adapter and I would still buy an ode. Those things are great, most of my cd based consoles have one. Come on Ps2 hackers 🙌

All Ground Zero Texas really needed was light gun support. The remaster is probably using original source footage, not much you can do with the footage stored on the Sega CD disc.

Side note: I want to see a remaster ON the Sega CD using Mega Color video streaming mode. Depending how many bits it uses per frame, I think it's viable to stream off the CD for certain types of games where the Sega CD's 68k isn't getting taxed heavily. The Genesis will be tied up just doing the video work and maybe audio on the Zilog.

I think its time to pull the trigger on a GBS C. The OSSC is neat but I think for my small LCD and VGA CRTs are enough for me lol.

Edit: Is it possible to just buy that add on board the AIO uses? For SCART input and possibly HDMI out and the toggle switches etc?

I would get an ODE for my PS2 but I would prefer someone figure out how to force 480p in every game. I frickin' hate the PS2s interlacing and would pay upwards of $500 for a progressive video mod.
