Vance Joy - Riptide | Tram Sessions

It was a busy night in Melbourne's CBD when we met Vance Joy for this session. After waiting for the tram to clear out, and probably going the furtherest out of the city we've ever been.

Vance performed two singles from his debut EP 'God loves you when you're dancing' (such a good album name) 'Riptide' and 'From Afar'.
Everyone on the tram was mesmerized his performance, some even running from one end of the tram to the other to see what was going on. After getting off in Clifton Hill we were treated to an impromptu Tram Stop session, a cover of The Boss' Dancing In The Dark, keep your eyes peeled for this one!

After selling out 4 shows at the Northcote Social Club, supporting the likes of Bernard Fanning and Julia Stone on tour and now a spot on the Splendour in the Grass line up, it's pretty safe to say we can expect amazing things for Vance Joy!

This version is so raw and pure I truly believe this is the way it was meant to be sung.. but that's just my opinion

This song hits different when you're afraid of dentists, pretty girls, starting conversations, and friends turning green.

His Uncle used to look after me and my sisters when i was young we called him uncle Grant as kids. Vance looks so much like his uncle did in the 1980's it's uncanny. I have never met Vance but I'm very happy for him his a genuine world class talent

Can we talk about the character development of the woman in yellow in the back? She went from having a straight face to cracking a smile and grooving.

If your looking for how to play it exactly like he does you tune your ukulele to D#, G#, C, F and then the chords are Dm (2210) C (0003) and F(2010) then the extra chord he plays at the one part you play (3210).

humbly performing in the open randomly for strangers, making everyone smile and appreciate music is probably one of the most genuine thing you can do as a singer/musician
