Oh, our group had the "pleasure" of his demonstration of pressure points in October of last year. "Pain makes a believer"

13:46 instead of grip training with ceramic jars, they're using high voltage ceramic disc insulators, the things you see on electric tower power lines :D

Hokama Sensei was saying that the study of Karate is the study of Bio-mechanics and Medicine. The techniques are created by understanding the Human Anatomy and the Sciences of Acupuncture and TCM - manipulation of biological energy channels Botanical Medicine. This is why he was able to use minimal effort to cause great pain. Karate is Bio-Engineering.

So I recently began investigating the many origin stories of Xiong Men Quan. Fascinating how this style is in so many regions and each one with its own origin story.

Is it me or did your face turn really red during that pressure points demonstration?

I was once told by a student of Hokama Sensei that he keeps some finger nails longer for the application on pressure points. This may be the needle like feeling you experienced.

Is there any reason he's using the shito-ryu emblem? Or does it just look similar?
