Diablo 2 for me is one of the greatest games ever made, but its awesome to see Etrian Odyssey get the number 1 accolade, i feel its a series very underrated and deserves its due. awesome, and interesting list that takes a look at Dungeon crawlers vast history!

Bards tale III on pc, I've never used so much graph paper then or since and the dimension wheel that had 3 wheels that finally gave a dimension code for travel. loved it. Remer it Mark Briggs?

Ultima underworld is the ancestor of modern western RPGs, the direct inspiration for the Elder scrolls series, Thief, System Shock and Deus ex and an excellent dungeon crawler in its own right. The technology and the gameplay was so far ahead of everything else at the time that you can make a credible argument it was designed by time traveling aliens.

I think that the genre definition behind this list is a little too broad, and I was also disappointed to not see a Grimrock game here. Two other suggestions for folks to check out: Cogmind and Desktop Dungeons.
