I'm kicking myself for starting off with wooden hives. Yesterday I bought a poly hive so I can see how much difference it makes. I'd love this nuc box so I can compare it with my existing wooden nuc boxes.

Love these nucs, well made and BS are always great to deal with. They keep our ladies very toastie over winter in Aberdeen. Because they are so warm we do get a wee bit of condensation but find a couple of small holes drilled where the lid sits at an angle sorts that out!

Great review yet again. Quality looking bit of kit from a quality outfit, that is BS honey bees. Their Queens are second to none so I wouldn't expect their poly nucs to be nothing but top quality!

Great video, I bought one a couple of years ago and saving to get another for the forthcoming season, I like the clear sheet idea (crownboard) to go on top and divide the bees
If using as a 3 frame nuc to stop the bees mixing. Crossing everything 🤞👍

Have a couple of Maismore and BS nuc's and agree that the density of the BS give more confidence for a long lasting product. To my mind that helps square the use of plastic in hives. Another great review, thanks.

Fantastic review.
The feeder and cover board design features are brilliant.
Having built some self-designed top bee space three frame nucs and feeders from plywood this Winter, for use next season, it would be great to be able to run the poly-nuc alongside them, to get an idea of which the bees would do best in, with the added benefit of being able to overwinter a colony in the poly-nuc as a six-framer.

I have successfully used the BS polynuc for swarm control/splits, by taking out the frame with a charged queen cell, sometimes a frame of brood and a frame of food/or foundation (depending on brood in the ‘queen frame’). Worked like a charm. Would love another one.
