David Bendeth - Kemper vs Real Amp Test

Multi-platinum award-winning record producer David Bendeth has joined forces with STL Tones to create his own personal Producer Kemper Bundle. Dubbed as the ‘Reel Sound Edition’, we used all of Bendeth’s go to guitar amp/cab/pedal/microphone setups in the creation of his bundle. We also used an Ampex ATR 102 1/2 inch reel to reel tape machine in the final stage of the profiling process. Having done this, we feel that we have captured Bendeth’s revered guitar and bass sounds as accurately as possible. Bendeth’s bundle contains 138 guitar profiles and 14 bass profiles.

The producer series, developed by STL Tones, is a series of meticulously crafted Kemper bundles, combined with state of the art outboard gear, microphones, pedals, and mixing tools, implemented to get you as close to the producer's personal guitar tones as possible.

In my studio (Sound Kitchen Studio-C Franklin, TN - fully treated....) I actually found the Kemper had a thicker bottom end. Which was kindof neat to hear.

The original sound is a little thick and warm, but the two guitar sounds are very very close!!! Congrats! (I am not a professor, just a mix and mastering engineer ;)

I guess I should apply for that “professorship”... the first sound had twice as much harmonic content.. the fundamentals of each sound are very similar though. I wonder if that’s what he’s only listening for.

I hear no difference through $1000 studio monitors, great job...i just bought a kemper through sam ash and it will be here in 3 more wait of my life

Great tone! a little bit thicker at the bottom end from the tape machine but niances

Anyone actually tested the kemper to see how accurate the distortion accuracy is with sine wave generator? I always hear less harmonic timbre in the kemper even when gain is matched.

For me the original sounded thicker. But Kemper is close. I think an audience would'nt mind...

I should be a professor at the university of audiology! I heard a clear difference, even through a Samsung Glaxy S7 speaker.

Seriously though, the playing was different in both examples and... it seemed like sample b had less gain which was a bit strange.

Anyways, can't wait to get this pack!

Hello all to the experts here! Which I’m not! And not young at all. Soon to be 74 and as all my old friend says if the wife calls for any reason, we don’t hear it! Period!!! But we can hear anything if the cleaning lady says, but she is not calling us for any reason, so we can hear and make a difference about things we think we still can do. Such as differentiate two guitars. And we know the difference between a fake and a real. Just like between a real women and a sex doll. That’s it! The real ones are warm and talk to much, but the fake ones are really cool chicks, “ literally “ and if you are the violent one, you can even kick their butt! Sorry, Sorry, Sorry, just wanted to show to the younger generation, having fun any way possible, keeps us live longer. And about the two guitars, what was the question? Sorry carried away again! The original had a real warmer feel than the fake one. See, I was right, keep the real one Mr Bendeth, you still can exchange it for a younger edition!!!
