Liberalism: Using Key Thinkers in an Essay

In this video I go over what the A level specification says you need to know about the theories of the key thinkers for liberalism. I then go through some model paragraphs showing how some of these key thinkers agree and disagree in the 4 themes (human nature, society, economics and state). This is designed to show you how to effectively write in a way that will hit the three assessment objectives. This video is part of my A Level Politics playlist that covers Component 1 (including all core ideologies), Component 2 (including nationalism) and Component 3A (US Politics). Subscribe to get notifications as more videos are added to this and other playlists.

The A levels are great. Paired with a academic liberal education this makes a person all the better.

Hi Alan, you’ve talked before about keeping a “politics diary” for A Level - is there a specific format you’d recommend for this?

I’ve been planning to make one with historical/modern examples but I’m not sure whether to 1) set up a structure with each section of the specification or 2) just write things down in any order as they happen.

Really helpful, as always! I have an exam coming up in a few days.. is it possible for you to go through the question “how do liberals view the state” ?
