I love sharing easy slow stitching project ideas that others can make too.

And I love supporting my friends who are running slow stitching projects.

Thrilled to be joining this stitchalong being hosted by Sally from @DottyBeeVintage which is focused on ‘What is slow stitch’ and includes creation of a slow stitch fabric book. #whatisslowstitch

I’ve decided to make my slow storch fabric book as a miniature book that will fit within a mints tin.

In his video I share my plans for this project, the vintage fabric scraps I have selected, fo my running stitch which is the first slow stitch Sally is focusing on, and decorate the outer tin with a doily.

I also share my philosophy on what slow stitching is.

Have fun discovering what slow stitching means to you as part of this fun project.

Cheers,
Christine

I agree with you on reviving the life of old linens and laces! I feel like they would sit and never be seen or used. Slow stitching via YouTube gives us a common bond from all over the world! 🌎 😊

What another lovely idea on Sally's Slow Stiching Book, not sure what I'm doing yet, I like where you stitched on a patterned material Christine, it shows it doesn't have to be a plain fabric xx

SS to me has been an awesome Healer for me. I can really get into my Zone thinking of my loved ones as I stitch every stitch in their memory, in my own little world.
I don't think I would have got through 2023 and 2024 without it. Thank you, Christine, (I put you in the same book as Ms. Marion and Ms. K3n Katherine) for your inspiration and stitching techniques and projects you have shared along your journey. 2025 will be a better year. Sending Huge Hugs and Love xx

Love your tiny booklet in a tin, Christine! And the idea of carrying it in your bag to show people what slow stitch is is great! Thanks for sharing ❤❤❤

You are so correct. It is perfectly fine to use antique or vintage things, giving them new life instead of leaving them in a drawer or worse a stinky damp garage to disintegrate. My Grandma who lived till over 90 years and won several awards locally and at national levels with her crochet was thrilled that I was using her bits and pieces and making them into something I enjoyed. I didn’t cut any of hers using them complete but, I’ve cut and altered ones I’ve rescued from church rummage sales, thrift stores etc. After I showed my finished pieces I had two elderly ladies bring me their vintage and antique linens. They both said they knew beyond a doubt they would be trashed when their families had to deal with their processions after they die. I love working with old linens. Thanks for sharing your art.

You have such wonderful ideas, Christine. You ask what slow stitching means to us. Well, to me, I feel it's mending my soul each time my needle enters the cloth and leaves it's a healing, calming time also exciting at the same time very rarely do I have a plan it just kinda grows and takes shape like having a conversation with the cloth and you both decide what you want to say .. does that make sense 🤔 ❤

Hi Christine, your tiny slow stitch book in a tin is so cute 🤗🤗 I hope to actually do this project, but I procrastinate, then another crafter pops up with another project & I never get anything started 😣😣 I just watched Valitas video of her starting her stitch book with doilies....I think I'll (hopefully) do that, I certainly have plenty of those xx TFS XX Love & hugs 😍😍

Aww this could my relax and chill night time sew or I think this will work when I have lunch break and you have like 10-20 minutes that is free yes supper portable too I can do this while waiting for people, in a cafe, yep I will craft publicly I just don’t care and usually I end up talking to people I don’t know as they relax and tell me about there crafts, knitting crochet lol but I draw the line at wood photos! lol yes there is a funny clean story there. Aww so yes count me in I love the size to himm wonder if I can find a small squarish tin. This would come in handy when I teach I could have on the table ok I am in flip flops and all!
