Low Cost Van Conversion - Van Tour - Microcamper

The long awaited van tour is finally here! This is my van conversion of my microcamper called Pablo. I will tell you all about how I bought my 2007 Fiat Doblo for £1500 and converted it into a microcamper for less than £2000.

The build time roughly adds up to around 28 days in total spread out over a 6month period. I named my van Pablo as it sounded like Doblo and I liked the play on words of Pablo Escovan.

I'm sure people have their own way of doing things and have their own preference for how they would convert their van. This is what I wanted mine to look like and was also happy to make mistakes on a cheap van before I eventually upgrade.

I hope you enjoy it and please feel free to ask any questions.

Really love what you’ve done with Pablo. Reminds me of a beach hut style of place.
Really clever touches, love the slide out shelf for the hob. Looking forward to see what you do next buddy.

So excited to see this as I have the car version of the Doblo (still with the high top though.) I've recently fitted mine out though more to make it comfortable for day trips with my dog and to even out the floor as, with the back seats taken out, no matter how much I padded out the rear foot wells the dog would always slip down them plus there was a ridge of metal that the seats had been attached to. On the plus side, I have been able to add some storage under that bit of flooring in the old foot wells!

I love your slide-out shelf for cooking on, it's genius, I don't really intend to cook in mine (as long as I can make a cup of tea I'll be happy!) but, if I did, I'd definitely think about borrowing that idea. My building skills are quite basic so my cabinetry is a TV table which worked best for what I wanted it for because it's less deep than standard-sized cupboards and not too tall as I was worried about anything taller toppling over with the dog in the back, as it is I have it screwed, strapped and wedged in via three different methods!

Mine is the same engine size and year as yours and I bought it for £3, 000 about 5 years ago with about 35, 000 on the clock, it now has 67, 000 and hasn't required much work over the 5 years, I've had to replace one cylinder and the passenger side rear door no longer works which seems to be a problem with all of them but not one you need to worry about (apparently there is some kind of device to stop you being able to slide that door open when the petrol cap is open but it malfunctions in most of them.)

Happy travels!

Looks cool. Does it have a heater that is independent from the engine? Also, I might have missed it, do you have a battery to charge your devices? And do you plan installing an air conditioning?

What a great, simple conversion. I am about to convert my Doblo maxi. Yours looks taller than mine. What is the floor to interior ceiling height please.

Smile - It looks close like my story.
My red Mini-Van looks like this. And also made in 2007. But 170k Miles.
Costs 360 pounds only and some fix necessary.

It is an Opel Combo C, like the red Vauxhall Transporters of the british Royal Post.
But continental Version with LHD. I live in Germany (middle Europe)

But the Fiat Doblo is larger inside, and has a higher roof.
This is better, because you need every inch of space.

Greetings from sw Germany (liked + subscribed)

Any knowledge about whether the high top roofs on these things leak? Cheers :)
