Shame CGR Undertow had to be put to rest. It took me a while to warm up to Derek, but he grew a lot over the past years, and this review is among his best work. Oh, and the game is amazing, too :-D . Like Ridley Scott's classic film, it's an almost meditatively paced experience that involves a lot of sitting tight and quietly staring into empty, foggy corridors. And I wouldn't want it any other way.

This would have been a deep and philosophical episode if not for that fact that survival horror as a entire genre has been around since the Atari 2600.

I really loved this game.  It could have used some judicious editing for the non puzzly / non threatening sections, but it is something special.

I'm going through this game right now on my PS4. This has to be one of the best games I've ever played. You're right in your review to say it's not really a video game. It is, obviously, but not in the traditional sense of the way we typically view video games. This takes it to a whole other level. You're not a bad ass, but you get a sense of helplessness, because you have to rely on your wits to survive, and this game does a brilliant job doing that. Every time I've died I felt like it was my fault, and not due to the stupid game or game mechanics. The game is not perfect, but it is darned good. It will stay in my collection for as long as I own a PS4. Oh and this is a pretty scary game as well, because of the helplessness I think. You aren't some big massive commando/explosions/martial arts/flamethrower expert. You're just an average lady trying to survive. There are dangers at every turn, and the Alien is just one of your many problems to deal with.

This was a great review. I hope more people discover this "game" and learn to appreciate it in any way they can. This game in a way is the next movie in the Alien franchise I never got, but now I kind of do thanks to this game.

I have to say, I love this game to death. The atmosphere is perfect, they really nailed the Alien vibe. Especially with the audio. Just the sound that plays while the alien gets close to you is gut wrenching. But unfortunately I haven't made it past the first alien encounter. Maybe I'm just a little bitch. And there are also lot of weird glitches in the ps3 version. I fell through the map on multiple occasions.

This game uses low SSAO like standard plus the shadows make the FPS drops all the time....I notice that sometimes SSAO low?!

This game was absolutely amazing! Have it for Xbox One and this game is awesome to play in surround sound with the lights off, adds to the atmosphere. This is a must have game!!
