When you get new materials you need to make sure to test them and see what you will be working with. In this tutorial I am showing how to test watercolor paints, brushes and paper. We will make a color palette, as well as try cold pressed paper on sizing and durability.

Materials used, "Paul Rubens":
- transparent watercolor set;
- watercolor brushes Esprit L88, sizes 4 (largest), 10, 6, 1 (smallest)
- watercolor block, 300 g/m2, acid free, wet on wet, cold press, 270x390 mm.

- Magic Water Painting Paper (goes back to original when dries out)
- ruler,
- pencil,
- water.

⚠️ WARNING: Witch craft paper at 2:15!
It’s amazing! Came here for the brush review but that paper is great! Do you recommend the brushes? I’ve been struggling to choose between these & the Silver Brush Black Velvet set.

somehow the video won't load with me, while other video's go fine. I have no clue why as it's certainly not my connection. maybe more people have this problem?

There are NO brands of watercolors that only have transparent colors. If they have cadmium colors, which most brands do, then it is a certainty that not all their colors are transparent. While those may not be the most transparent they are certainly not comparable to a gouache paint. Even the most transparent gouache is more opaque than those colors.
